wolves 3 QPR 3

Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-3 Queens Park Rangers - report
By Rangers Report - 23/03/2008 10:28
A goal feast at Molineux in a hugely entertaining game in the Midlands that does precisely nothing for either team's play-off ambitions. Ho hum...

Oh well. That's the end of that then. Denied by literally seconds, I guess that's time up on the QPR play-off challenge. Meanwhile, Wolves cling on to their own hopes on a fragile premise, with Andy Keogh's late, late strike. Bugger!

It was harsh on Rangers - the visitors to Molineux - who had led the game three times. You should really close out a game away from home if you've been ahead on three occasions, but the Hoops didn't - and to the point of being cutting - that's why QPR never really could've made the play-offs this year.

Wolves by contrast, look to be hanging onto the coat-tails of the play-off pack via luck more than judgement, as anyone harbouring genuine ambition of a crack at the Premiership wouldn't be giving away the lead three times at home, surely?

Akos Buzsaky drew first blood with a rocket from 25 yards out, although Wolves managed to cancel his glorious strike out right on half time when Andy Keogh converted Michael Gray's cross.

After the break Neil Collins handled in the box for Wolves and new dad Dexter Blackstock converted the resultant penalty. Wolves pounced once more though, with Sylvain Ebanks-Blake converting a penalty for the home side after Matt Jarvis was fouled.

However, the Hoops would not lie down and took the lead for a third time when Mikele Leigertwood cooly finished a great move with just 10 minutes on the watch. As QPR tried to hold on, their nerves wobbled and Andy Keogh stole in at the death to snatch a point for a much relieved Wolves side. Ah, balls to it, there's always next season!
