Eastwood joins the Wolves
Wolves have agreed personal terms with Southend striker Freddy Eastwood after the two clubs agreed a deal thought to be worth in the region of £2m.
Eastwood has also passed a medical with the Championship club and will sign a four-year deal to move to Molineux.
"We have been in pursuit of Freddy Eastwood since the end of last season," said Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey.
But Wolves have had a bid for Leicester striker Matty Fryatt rejected by Foxes boss Martin Allen.
"We have turned down an offer from Wolverhampton Wanderers for our striker, Matty Fryatt," said Allen.
"The offer was nowhere near high enough."
Eastwood started as a trainee at West Ham and later joined Grays, but it is at Southend that he forged his reputation.
He signed for them permanently after a month on loan in November 2004, scoring 49 league goals for the Shrimpers.
Eastwood scored in the 2-0 victory over Lincoln in the 2005 League Two play-off final and scored twice in the 2-2 draw at Swansea that sealed another promotion the following season.
The striker was set to make his international debut for Wales in June, but was ruled out of the Euro 2008 qualifying clash with the Czech Republic through injury.
Eastwood, who qualifies for Wales through his grandfather, now hopes to win his first cap in August's friendly away to Bulgaria.
Moxey added: "The formalities of this transfer should be completed with the next few days."
And forward Michael Kightly, a former team-mate of Eastwood's at Southend, told the Wolves website: "Freddy is a natural goalscorer.
"Whether it be a 30-yard volley or a tap-in from a couple of yards, he knows where the net is."
