Wigan are set to launch a shock £3million move for Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage as they seek a replacement for Jimmy Bullard.
Bullard stunned Latics by joining Fulham at the end of last season and boss Paul Jewell sees Savage as the ideal replacement for the playmaker.
Rovers are willing to listen to offers for the 31-year-old as Mark Hughes seeks money to rebuild his squad ahead of their European campaign.
The former Wales star joined Rovers in January last year, claiming he wanted to be nearer to his Wales home.
However, he has expressed his disappointment at the sale of Craig Bellamy to Liverpool and is rumoured to be unhappy with the club's apparent lack of ambition.
A move to Wigan is likely to interest him so he can remain in the north-west.
