Pearson leaves Baggies
Caretaker manager Nigel Pearson has left West Bromwich Albion with immediate effect.
Pearson, who was former boss Bryan Robson's assistant, had been due to take charge of the first team for Tuesday's Championship match at Crystal Palace.
Reserve team manager Craig Shakespeare will instead select the team at Selhurst Park, with new boss Tony Mowbray set to take over on Wednesday.
Pearson, who has opted to leave the club following Mowbray's appointment, took charge for Saturday's 5-1 victory over Ipswich at Portman Road.
"Nigel felt that, with the imminent arrival of Tony, it was in the football club's best interests for him to stand down," said Albion chairman Jeremy Peace.
"We understand Nigel's reasons and wish to acknowledge the role he has played, not only since Bryan Robson left the club but also over the past two years.
"He has conducted himself in a very professional manner during what must have been a difficult time considering he joined the club with Bryan."
