Phillips wins Championship award

Veteran West Bromwich Albion striker Kevin Phillips was named Championship player of the year award at the third Football League Awards in London.
The 34-year-old, this season's top scorer in the Championship, pipped Charlton's Andy Gray and Michael Kightly of Wolves to the title.

Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford was named League One player of the year and also won the goal of the year award.

MK Dons midfielder Keith Andrew picked up the League Two player prize.

It was announced the day before the ceremony that former England captain Jimmy Armfield, who has also been a respected BBC analyst since 1978, would be receiving the prestigious Outstanding Contribution honour.
