Riera a target?

Tottenham have reportedly joined the chase for former Manchester City winger Albert Riera.

The Spaniard spent the latter part of the 2006/07 season on loan at Eastlands and he impressed for Stuart Pearce's side.

However, City did not push through a permanent deal and Riera, who has also had spells with Real Mallorca and Bordeaux, returned to Espanyol.

Since moving back to Barcelona he has shone and has even been called in to the Spanish squad - earning his first cap earlier this year.

He is contracted to Espanyol until 2009, but they are looking to tie him down to a new contract to fend off the interest which is now emerging.


Spurs were amongst a clutch of clubs to send scouts to the Barcelona derby at the weekend to watch Riera.
