Jol...i'm Off

Tottenham are expected to hold a crisis board meeting today after manager Martin Jol told them he is ready to leave White Hart Lane.
Jol is believed to have had enough of other managers being linked with his job after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy made a bid to get former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho last week, reportedly calling his agent Jorge Mendes five times

Mourinho couldn't take up the offer because of the terms in his compensation agreement with Chelsea, although it is understood he didn't want the position in the first place.

It came just a month after club officials met with Sevilla coach Juande Ramos in Spain following the club's disappointing start to the season.

But the chase for Ramos is as strong as ever with sporting director Damien Comolli spotted in Barcelona on Saturday night watching their 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Nou Camp.

A club insider has revealed that Jol wants to go, but is determined not to resign and miss out on the £4million in compensation that he would be owed according to his contract.

However, Tottenham have dismissed claims they are to hold a crisis board meeting and a spokesman for the club insisted that no such plan exists despite Jol's role as head coach having been under the spotlight for some weeks.

Ramos is still reported to be the No.1 target following their failure to get Mourinho, but he has informed them he won't come until next summer.

The board want to discuss who they could put in place to manage the team until Ramos arrives if they get rid of Jol now. There are very few options available to them, particularly with the candidate knowing he would not get the position on a permanent basis.

But they may decide at today's meeting that enough is enough, particularly following another unconvincing Spurs performance in the 1-1 draw at Bolton yesterday.

Tottenham are still in the bottom three, having won just once in their first seven games and lost the chance of a vital three points with another goal conceded from a set piece after Robbie Keane had put them in front.

But Jol still insists publicly that he has the backing of Levy after being asked about the Mourinho reports.

He said: "Daniel Levy called me to tell me that it's all rubbish and that he wants me here next year.

"He's always good to me and has always backed me."

Tottenham boss Martin Jol insists talk of Jose Mourinho replacing him is wide of the mark following the Dutchman's talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Mourinho has been linked Spurs after his shock exit from Chelsea last week.

"Daniel Levy phoned me to say the report was rubbish and hoped I would be with him next year," said Jol. "He is always good to me, always backing me."

Spurs have also rejected claims they are holding crisis talks after a report that Jol has told them he wants to go.

The BBC understands that, contrary to the report in London's Evening Standard on Monday, no such plan currently exists despite Spurs struggling in the bottom three of the Premiership after a string of poor results.

Martin Jol is in talks with Tottenham over a compo pay-off, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says Jol has already negotiated a £4million exit from White Hart Lane.

Dutch coach Jol privately accepts that the board want to replace him after they offered his job to Sevilla coach Juande Ramos and Jose Mourinho after his departure from Chelsea.

And Jol has secretly negotiated a severance package with the club and will go as soon as Tottenham are able to appoint a new man to replace him.

It's been revealed that Tottenham made a fresh approach for Sevilla coach Juande Ramos this weekend.

Who can you believe? The players want Jol to stay - if so they better start
winning some games soon!

Seems Levy says one thing to Jol, then does something else behind
his back.

I reckon it's just a case of watch this space.
