and the new manager is........

Roberto Martinez will become the new Swansea City manager. The 33-year-old Spaniard was on his way to Swansea this afternoon after leaving Chester City.

It is thought the former Swansea skipper held further talks this morning with club chairman Huw Jenkins after having a formal interview yesterday.

It is believed that the two clubs have agreed a compensation package for Martinez who could bring with him Chester assistant manager Graham Barrow as his No. 2.

The midfielder had been heavily linked with the top job at Swansea following the shock departure of Kenny Jackett last week.

The Spaniard was released by Jackett in the summer and signed a two-year at the Deva Stadium.

I cant say i'm overly happy. I loved martinez when he was our captain and he always gave us his all, but......

"After the interviews it was clear that Roberto was the best man for the job and the decision was made to offer him the position."

Please explain to me how someone with no coaching or managerial experience can be 'the best man for the job' compared to people like saunders and blackwell. Sometimes i despair.

Never mind though, as the new manager i am more than willing to give him my full support.

For the time being! Hehehe.

same here and about 60-70% other swans fans felt the same, cracking player which we were all gutted that jackett pushed out of the club in the summer.he would of been spot on in my eyes as the number 2 in charge but the gaffers job come on like, the likes of blackwell, richy, saunders, hollins just to name a few all well known in the job.yet again the swans have taken the cheap route and i for 1 just pray it doesnt back fire like the last time they tryed it with an ex swans captain-nick cusack which he almost took us out of the football league,we only survide because we bet hull on the last game of the season

but anyway i for 1 will give the manager my full suport and hope he will become 1 of the new bread of younger inexperanced managers that are climbing up the leagues
