Bauza to blaze Swans goal trail

Guillem Bauza has vowed to fire Swansea City to Championship safety after the Spanish striker's double against Barcelona reserves on Tuesday.

Bauza's two goals sparked a fight-back as the Swans came back from three goals down to draw 3-3 at The Miniestadi.

The 23-year-old has scored ten goals in eight pre-season games and said: "I've worked hard over the pre-season to get ready for the British game.

"Hopefully I can keep it going right up until the end of the season."

Former Espanyol forward Bauza has continued his red hot form of the end of last season when he scored five goals in his last four games to help the Swans secure promotion and the League One crown.

But Bauza's night in Barcelona was marred by a controversial dismissal in the 80th minute when he was sent off for a second bookable offence.

"I wouldn't have even been booked in the Championship," said Bauza.

"So I won't stop doing what's needed when the new season kicks off.

"I'm just pleased I've added another two goals to my tally. I've scored 10 in pre-season but that's why I'm here."

Bauza - known as 'Bussy' - is battling with new boy Gorka Pintado, loan star Febian Brandy and last season's top-scorer Jason Scotland for a striking spot in Roberto Martinez's team.

Two goals for Ruben Rochina and another for Ruben Rayos gave Barca B a half-time lead but Bauza's brace and a late Brandy strike.

"In the second-half we showed a winning, fighting spirit," said Bauza.

"We showed that when we display a high pressure game against a very good technical and tactical team, we can be a match for them.

"We showed many different variations to our game against Barca that will stand us in good stead in the Championship.

"I think everyone who saw us last season know we are a good footballing side but coming over to Spain has given everyone a better insight into the tactical side of the game."

Swansea have three remaining friendlies before their league opener at Charlton Athletic on 9 August.

The Championship new boys play Swans boss Martinez's old club Chester City on Thursday, 31 July before hosting Premier League side West Brom on August 2 and Dutch team Dan Haag on August 5.
