Swansea 3 Leeds 2

A good win for you today Jack, you did well with having a man sent off too. With all the other teams at the top losing it looks like you're the favourites to win the league now mate. Do you think you can keep it up ?

LEEDS United failed to knock ten-man Swansea down off the League One top spot in a breathtaking encounter at the Liberty Stadium.

A win in Wales would have finally made good United's constant threat this term by making Leeds top going into 2008.

But a flurry of goals in an action-packed game saw the Swans fend off the visitors to stay on top.

Andy Robinson struck first with a neat, swirling free-kick, to put the hosts in front on nine minutes.

Super-scorer Jermaine Beckford didn't leave it long to respond for United though, and the sides were level three minutes later.

Set-piece defending should be a key feature of training at Thorp Arch this week after Swansea netted a second, this one from a corner, mid-way through the first half.

The action was far from done. Shortly after, Ferrie Bodde was dispatched to the dressing rooms for a two-footed lunge at Jonathan Howson; the cost to Leeds coming in Howson's enforced early departure with an injury.

Frustratingly for Leeds, it was the Swans that reacted best as Jason Scotland installed a two-goall lead going into half-time.

Alan Thompson made a giant step towards a comeback with a free-kick seconds into the new half - but it wasn't enough.

Leeds stay third in the table, level on points with Doncaster Rovers, and six points behind Swansea.

10 man Swansea held out to grab a victory over Leeds United.

On a day which was marked as the game of the League One season, Swansea City (Top), Leeds United (3rd), Swansea City managed to beat their Yorkshire Rivals.

Goals from Andy Robinson with a stunning free kick, Garry Monk with a powered header from a corner and Jason Scotland's composed finish putting the Swans 3-1 up at half time after Jermaine Beckford's equalizer 3 minutes after Robinson's free kick. All the talk at the break though was for the wrong reasons, A rash foul by 'The Dutch Roy Keane' Ferrie Bodde saw him sent off and Swansea down to 10 men.

Leeds came out storming in the second half, Looking to get at least a point and it was United who scored first in the Second Half through a great Alan Thompson free kick. Leeds put the pressure on, Bringing on experienced striker Toré André Flo but they failed to break Swansea's rearguard once again which was marshalled well by Garry Monk.

Now, we go 5 points clear with 2 games in hand over most of our rivals excluding Carlsile and Forest with the latter only having the one in hand.

Overall, An extremely satisfying match, We're going Up!
