Going down before the season starts!
Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy has responded to accusations that his club accepted relegation before the season started. McCarthy said he'd walk away from football if he ever did that!.
I personally don't blame McCarthy, i'm sure if he could strengthen his side he would do. I do blame the board though, every time Sunderland win promotion, they always come straight back down. They don't invest in premiership quality players, only good run of the mill types. Over the past few seasons more teams that are promoted are staying up. Look at West Ham,and how well they're doing, but they have splashed out to try and stay up. West Brom have stayed up with a fight, and that is what seems missing at The Stadium of Light. Relegation usually is sorted out by 5 or 6 teams around Easter time, when Sunderland are in the premiership, they're usually adrift by Bonfire Night!. You've got to spend 8-10 million quid to have a chance of staying up, and buy good players, not Andy Gray from Sheff Utd. Until Sunderland learn that caution means relegation i'm afraid their loyal fans are going to be watching their team going up and down.
