Blades near Seagull swoop

Brighton & Hove Albion have accepted a bid from Premiership new boys Sheffield United for want-away striker Colin Kazim-Richards.

The 20-year-old is expected to travel north to Bramall Lane to discuss personal terms with The Blades, as his spell with The Seagulls looks set to end after a little more than a year.

The former Bury hit-man has been keen on a summer move away from The Withdean Stadium following Brighton's relegation to League One.

Kazim-Richards initially had a transfer request turned down by the South Coast club before Championship side Barnsley opted not to pursue their interest in the talented youngster.

With Thursday's transfer deadline looming, Brighton have 'reluctantly' accepted an offer from Neil Warnock's side for the striker.

"Colin made it clear to me he no longer wished to play for Brighton & Hove Albion - as a result, we have reluctantly accepted the bid from Sheffield United," Seagulls boss Mark McGhee told the club's official website.

"I am really disappointed and I feel personally let down by Colin. We gave him the chance to get out of Bury and I don't think he's repaid us for that.

"We felt Colin could have built his career here at Brighton."

Brighton, meanwhile, are keen to bring a striker into the club before the deadline, despite having an offer for Barnet striker Tresor Kandol turned down by the League Two club.

Isn't this the bloke who was bought through the coca-cola competition where a fan won £250,000 for their club to spend on a player
