Manager Sacked

Bryan Robson has been relieved of first-team duties at Sheffield United. The former Middlesborugh and Bradford City manager held talks with the club chairman Terry Robinson and Kevin McCabe, the plc chairman, in Brussels on Wednesday, where his future was discussed.

Both chairmen told BBC Radio Sheffield the talks had been constructive and there would be "reasoned changes to the football infrastructure".

The talks were arranged after fans protested against Robson's tenure after Saturday's draw with Scunthorpe United.

Robson said prior to the meeting he had been optimistic in keeping his job: "I still want to manage Sheffield United because this is a good club that I can help improve over time, bit by bit. There is support for me both within the club and outside, apart from the minority that showed their feelings last Saturday."
Robson, 50, only took charge at Bramall Lane in May, following the departure of Neil Warnock after the Blades' dramatic relegation from the Premier League on the last day of the season.

But United, who were expected to make an immediate return to the Premier League, currently lie 16th in the Championship, just seven points off the relegation zone.

Under Robson, United have won just nine of 32 league fixtures, with top scorer James Beattie having only just returned to action after a long lay-off because of a knee ligament injury.

Oh dear Robbo just doesn't seem to be clicking at the moment. Big Sam would definitely be a good man for the job

Yet another bites the dust, now with two Championship teams looking for a manager I wonder if they'll be chasing the same people?
