Millers 0-0 Derby County

Rotherham's first public outing of pre-season ended all square in the first ever game played at Don Valley Stadium.

Mark Robins fielded summer signings Mark Lynch, Alex Rhodes and Micky Cummins in a drab encounter, pretty much what you would expect from a pre-season fitness drill. Trialists Reuben Reid and Steve Connor also figured.

The game opened up scrappily as both sides struggled with the windy conditions, but the first chance fell to new boy Rhodes early on, as he ran through one on one with Rams 'kepper Lewis Price, only to dwell on the ball too long and the chance was gone as Price dove at his feet.

Mark Burchill then fired wide from the edge of the area, with Derby's only major threat coming from the lively Jordan Stewart in the first period.

The Millers made six changes just after the hour mark including trialist Reid, formerly at Plymouth, but the game continued in bitty fashion on a pitch looking a touch bobbly in patches.

Reid impressed down the left and swung a couple of balls into the mixer, but with nobody there to get on the end of them.

John Oster went close for the visitors with a long range effort before a James McEveley free kick whistled over Steve Cann's crossbar.

Millers: Warrington (Cann 62), Tonge (Lynch 62), Mills (Joseph 62), Coughlan (Sharps 45), Green (Todd 62), Yates (Connor 52), Cummins (Harrison 45), Hudson (Haggerty 60), Rhodes (Holmes 54), Taylor (Reid 52), Burchill (Cahill 62)

The pre season games are vitally important for you this season mate, you've got to hit the ground running to overcome your points deduction, otherwise you could have your own little league with Bournemouth and Luton. Did you go to the game

yeh i went to the game, wasnt that good, but i can see us doing well at home this season. not many teams will like to come here and it will be hard to get a result. there was some sand on the pitch as well, which makes it harder to run on, so we should be fitter then the other teams in the league. im hopeing were going to be like brighton as not many teams win at there ground.

also, we havent got the -15 yet lol, but its just a matter of time till that comes.

the good thing is we havent brought in many new players, so we still have the same side of last season nearly, so they all should know each other. we did ok last season,

Sounds like it was a very boring game with neither team doing much. Good Luck this year, its gonna be tough if you lose those points, but I am pulling for you.
