Goalpost thieves set Rochdale back
Rochdale have been hit by the theft of the goalposts at their training ground, an event the club descibes as "a sickening blow to everyone".
The full-size goals, valued at Ģ2,500, were taken by thieves who broke in through a side fence, although the nets were left behind leading club officials to believe they were taken for scrap metal value.
General manager Colin Garlick told the club's official website: "It's a sickening blow to everyone concerned with the club when people work so hard to get facilities for the club.
"A donation from (supporters group) Dale Trust helped pay for these posts and in the blink of an eye someone has them away."
Dale Trust chairman Scott Goulding added: "When I heard the news I met it with total despair. The club isn't awash with money and replacing things like this will put a greater strain on finances and is something we could have done without."
