Russell to stay between the sticks
Rochdale have been given a boost ahead of the new season after goalkeeper Sam Russell extended his contract with the League Two club.
The 25-year-old former Darlington man initially joined the club on a non-contract basis last August.
His performances, after injury to James Spencer, earned him a deal that was due to expire at the end of June but he has now been given an extended contract.
Russell said: "Luckily I have done enough in my time here to earn another contract and I am very happy to have agreed it."
Meanwhile, Dale will host neighbours Bolton in a pre-season friendly at Spotland on Friday, July 25.
