Le Guen sorry for cup exit

Paul Le Guen has apologised to Rangers supporters after admitting to one of the worst defeats of his managerial career.

Rangers were knocked out of the CIS Insurance Cup on Wednesday after losing 2-0 at home to First Division side St Johnstone.

The cup exit comes on the back of a surprise SPL defeat at lowly Dundee United last weekend, with the pressure starting to mount on Le Guen.

The former Lyon coach only took over at Ibrox in the summer and concedes he is feeling the pressure in the hot seat.

He offered his apology for his side's performance against St Johnstone, but is determined to turn the club's season around.

"When you lose such a game, you must recognise that the supporters are not happy," said Le Guen.

"I know they are disappointed, but we are disappointed too.

"I am very disappointed and I apologise to the supporters because the performance was so poor.

"I have lost games before, but this one was one of the worst.

"It's a difficult period, but we must stick together. I will try to carry on. I am the manager and it is up to me to come up with a solution.

"The only way to get through this is to stick together."

Meanwhile, after the game Rangers fans launched a protest against chairman David Murray's running of the club.

Is it that the top clubs don't take these cup games seriously.

Southend V's Man Utd the other night, another example: If it is this i think that they owe the fans some money.
