Iain Dowie faces sack for promotion with QPR

IAIN DOWIE will be sacked if he wins promotion with his new club, QPR.

The People claims that the new Rangers' boss will get a golden handshake of almost £1million if he wins promotion to the Premier League - before stepping down.

QPR owners Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore have hired former Coventry City boss Dowie to take their club into football's big time - but want a high-profile name when they get there.

Having signed massive sponsorship deals with Lotto and Gulf Air, the four-year plan to make it into the top flight is being brought forward.

Dowie's two-year deal was a shock to most but, with his record of winning promotion with both Oldham and Crystal Palace, his CV was the best to get the job done.

These F1 types have a cynical view of the world, and see everyone and everything in terms of money.

Even though football is (to an extent) like that, I don't think Dowie particularly needs £1m - he must be building up quite a pay-off balance. So I think this is a misguided strategy on Ecclestone's part, if the report is true.

I wish someone would sack me and give me a million pay off. If QPR sack Dowie for getting them promotion he'll walk into another job straight away. I'm sorry but feeling sorry for people involved in football just doesn't wash with me.
