Seeing Derby struggle this season can't have been much fun for the supporters and players of the club. With relegation a near certainty, it looks like Derby will be spending next season in the Championship. Relegation will bring one bonus, the parachute payment they recieve from the Premiership will ensure that they're a lot more financially better off than most other teams in that league next season.
It seems to be an Irish way off doing things, if Derby had recieve a parachute payment once they gained promotion maybe they could have bought players good enough to compete this season. Why give it to a club when they get relegated, all that does is make them more likely to become a yo-yo club. If Bristol City gain promoton this season, they'll almost certainly come back down next, why not give the cash before the start of the season and give them a fighting chance
