A sign Of The Times

A YEAR or so ago, a top Premier League star who was bored with the £170,000 Bentley he had recently bought. He didn't like the colour.

He managed to sell the car to a player from a rival club at a substantial loss.

People often leave the odd thing in the boot. A CD, a book, an old pair of boots. In this case though there was a bag stuffed with £20,000 — winnings from a bet he'd placed.

Mere shrapnel, he'd no doubt argue. But it adds huge credence to Sports Minister, Gerry Sutcliffe's claims that the salaries of our top stars are now obscene.

If you controlled football and had to invoke a Maximum wage, what would you set as the top limit?

tough one that beefy boy.....the one excuse I hate to hear is the 'footballers is a short career' one....they have ample time during their career to learn something else and certainly can afford to learn.....some obviously will or invest wisely, but some like ya say will pi$$ it up the wall or gamble it away....I couldn't give a limit really

I'd set the top wage at £5,000 a week, then let players earn extra from image rights. With the wage structure set, clubs could then reduce ticket prices and the grounds would be full again.
