Price is right
Port Vale will continue to offer cut-price season tickets beyond today's deadline for the triumphant 5,000 campaign.
Fans will still have the chance to snap up a bargain, it was revealed today.
The cost of an adult season ticket will rise, to £229 from Monday, but that still works out at less than £10 per game.
That's just £46 more than the £183 adult season tickets on offer during the 5,000 campaign, and still well down on the full price of £323.
Vale have also frozen junior prices, which means 14 to 18-years-olds still pay £89, nine to 13-year-olds £45, and under-nines still get in for free.
The 5,000-plus fans who made pledges for season tickets during the promotional period are guaranteed to buy theirs at the lower £183 price.
And the new Phase Two prices will remain in place until July 31, when they will be revised again.
Club chairman Bill Bratt said: "We wanted to do a good deal for the fans, but still keep a differential for the fans who pledged during the campaign.
"We have frozen junior prices because those are the fans who are going to support us for years to come.
"With junior prices not rising pro rata with adult prices, it also means a further reduction for adults who want to take a child along."
Vale have comfortably smashed through the 5,500 pledges barrier with just one day of the campaign to go.
Bratt added: "I'm not surprised that the number of pledges is still going up because you always get a late surge, even when the price is around £323.
"I hope we can get towards 7,000 sales with the new prices we have set."
Meanwhile, Bratt says the club is close to sealing a deal with prospective new shirt sponsor after holding talks with an unnamed company on Thursday.
If an agreement can be reached, it is likely to match last year's deal with music giant Sennheiser, which was worth more than £100,000.
Bratt said: "The meeting went very well and the company is coming to see us next week.
"Nothing is ever certain though until pen is put to paper.
"We are happy with the deal and it's just a matter of whether they like the club and, hopefully, it will be sorted out next week.
"Although we've been relegated, we still have a lot to offer as a club and the company was impressed with our 5,000 campaign and the fact that we're a community club."
