i was wrong, a club that hands over free plastic flags to generate some athmosphere can never have real passionate fans.

Newcastle United have the best fans in the country (the team may be useless but the fans are the best).

Anyway to return to the topic of Joey Barton. He should never have been signed by Newcastle United in the first place. He is a decent enough midfielder, but that's about it. Personally I wish he had been sacked by the club, and forget the money the club would lose. The correct decision morally would be to sack him, and that's what the vast majority of Newcastle fans would like to have seen happen.

The truth is Darren that football has no morals, i agree Newcastle should have sacked him but no other club should sign him either. Newcastles loss shuldn't be another clubs gain, it time some kind of agreement was drawn up.

The story I heard was that Newcastle DID intended to sack him, but at least 4 other clubs made enquiries about him when they heard this. It seems clubs would have been interested to sign him for nothing (not surprisingly) so Newcastle changed their minds and decided not to sack him.
