I always felt that Alan Shearer did nothing but harm the chances of Sam Allardyce winning over the fans and being successful at Newcastle. He should have nipped the rumours in the bud of him becoming manager of the club, then Allardyce could have had a fair crack at managing his way. Instead he stayed silent and watched as the geordies ousted big Sam. Once he'd been sacked and the search for a new manager was on, Shearer distanced himself from the position.
In the papers today it's reported that a consortium from Newcastle are wanting to buy out Mike Ashley and want Shearer to front the group. They say Shearer won't have to fork out any cash, just promote the consortium with his blessing. Why doesn't Shearer do the right thing and back Ashley instead, this would give the club a more stable future, instead he's quoted as saying that it's a very interesting proposition. It's about time people started to realise that Alan Shearer is only interested in Alan Shearer and Newcastle won't ever be successful whilst he's having his gigantic ego massaged by the fans.
