Roeder resigns as Newcastle boss

Roeder took over as boss on a two-year deal in May 2006
Glenn Roeder has resigned as manager of Newcastle United, reports Five Live.
The Magpies have had a torrid time with injuries this season, finishing 13th in the Premiership and failing to shine in the cup competitions.

Newcastle have not scored a league goal at St James' Park in over eight hours of playing time, which is their worst run since 1951.

Roeder and chairman Freddy Shepherd came under fire from fans after their home defeat by Blackburn on Saturday.

The club are yet to confirm 51-year-old Roeder's departure, although are expected to do so within hours.

Roeder spent 15 months in charge at St James' Park including his spell as caretaker.

I feel bad for Roeder. He is one of life's underdogs, and I wanted to see it work out for him at Newcastle. The club remains in a better state than he found it. You cannot legislate for the players he lost.

If unlucky managers are bad managers, then Roeder must be a truly dire manager. More so when you consider the facts that he took on a West Ham team that Harry no longer wanted to manage, and was in charge when a debt-ridden Gillingham nearly crashed out of the league. But I don't think he is that bad a manager, and I think whichever club gets him next will be very fortunate.

Glad he is gone....what a boring man.....no charisma, fair play to him coming back into the game after what he went through personally, but he should not be anywhere near a premier league club, good riddance
