Champions Newcastle looking for a rare win Friday 19/12/08
Bottom club Newcastle are seeking their first win since defeating Victory way back in round 8 - the Jets woeful season sees them with only two wins all season - it is unlikely Victory will do them any favours Friday night.
The transformation from champions to wooden spooners has been dramatic this season for Newcastle - the failure of the owners to sign quality players in the off season and back luck has been blamed in the media but really the players just aren't performing and it seems the dressing room is in a poor state. Captain Jade North is off to play in the Korean "K" league at the end of the season and defender Adam Griffins has already put pen to paper to play with new boys Gold Coast United in 2009/2010. They are playing against a rested Victory who are expecting star player Archie Thompson to resume from a mild groin strain from Round 14 - the Jets will need lots of luck to keep it below 2 goals in my opinion Aussie Bee prediction Newcastle Jets 0 Melbourne Victory 3

Newcastle Jets 4 Melbourne Victory 2
The Jets finally displayed what they can do with a stunning 4-2 win over second placed Victory in Newcastle last night. The unlikely hero was left back Matt Thompson - playing only his 2nd game up front this season scored a hat trick (16, 45,49) This leaves the Jets 7 points outside of the top four and still a mathematical chance of making the finals with 5 rounds remaining.
