Everton 1 Chelsea 2

I really enjoyed that game, three superb goals, a hard-fought open contest, never more than one goal in it, the better team on the day prevailed and a London club won. The lino missed a clear third goal for Chelsea but even that kept it close and made no difference to the final outcome. I would have picked Lampard as MoM however.

United States 2 Spain 0

Stunning result at Bloemfontein today for the Unites States team as they advanced to Sunday's final of the Confederations Cup against either South Africa, the hosts, or Brazil. Jozy Altidore of Villarreal scored the American's go ahead goal in the 27th minute and Fulham's Clint Dempsey netted their second after 74 minutes. Tom Howard of Everton was outstanding in goal for the States making several great saves to keep a clean sheet.

Dont know about the rest of you, but the new football season starts today for me. It is the start of the Highland league season, and Nairn have a home game against our local rivals, Forres. It is the first round of the North of Scotland Cup, and, as holders of the old trophy, i hope we get of to a winning start in the defence of our silverware.
