Mathias named as Ince's assistant

New Macclesfield manager Paul Ince has appointed former Wigan and Tranmere boss Ray Mathias as his assistant.

Ince took charge of the League Two strugglers on Monday and has moved quickly to boost his backroom staff.

"I just felt that I'm not accustomed to this league and I don't really know many of the players," said Ince.

"Ray has been in this league, he knows who the players are and which players we need. I need that bit of experience and someone to bounce ideas off."
