Lincoln 1 Milton Keynes Dons 2
With Peterborough not in action until Saturday, Milton Keynes Dons needed to beat Lincoln by two goals to return to the league summit.
They made the perfect start as Carl Regan scored from close range after just three minutes, but Lincoln battled hard and could have levelled before half-time had it not been for some fine saves from MK Dons goalkeeper Willy Gueret.
MK Dons began the second half brightly and doubled their advantage when substitute Jemal Johnson finished well in the 55th minute.
Lincoln pulled one back through Ben Wright in the 59th minute but MK Dons clung on to clinch all three points.
Wright's goal did at least ensure that Peterborough stayed above MK Dons on goals scored.
