The Unthinkable

Lincoln entertain Wrexham at The Bank this afternoon with the real prospect of the unthinkable becoming a reality and unless we get a run of form going again, slipping completely out of the play-off picture.

Recent results has seen the automatic promotion dream slip away and only a 100% record from The Imps in the last four games and one of the top three totally blowing it could see us get back into contention. That I fear is not going to happen.

Secondary significance of this afternoon's game is that county neighbours Boston United will he hoping that Wrexham are beaten by Lincoln City to ease their relegation fears.
Unless Wrexham start picking up points they look like bowing out of the football league along with Torquay, whose cause looks lost.

My worst fears were realised against Wrexham and The Imps just did not preform.

My suspicion is that all is not well within the dressing room and the Paul Morgan situation is fueling that feeling.

For the sixth season running now The Imps are clearing the decks to try and go one step further next season.

Although this scenario is getting rather repetitive at Sincil Bank the alternative of struggling at the wrong end of the table is far less attractive.

From a personal standpoint while the last five seasons have all been heartbreaking in the final analysis the club have been establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with along the way.

In readiness for next season, Martin Gritton has been released along with Leon Mettam, Simon Rayner, Andy Toyne and Tom Wilkinson. Added to that former club captain Paul Morgan has requested a transfer and looks set to move on.

Lincoln are watching the situation with Danny Crow at Peterborough United but admit that the player could prove too expensive for The Imps playing budget.

Was rooting for you against Brizzul Rovers!

You'd probably welcome a season of mid table obscurity? All these play off games cost money!

Good Luck next year, who knows maybe you'll push on at get automatic? I expect County to not be too far behind you! Hopefully make the play offs?!
