League 1 Pub Guide

Right boys and girls, where should we go and where shouldn't we go for a beer and/or food at your ground?

Huish Park is built on the outskirts, and as such there aren't many pubs nearby, so unless you fancy a trek into the town centre where the are plenty of pubs to quench your thirst and feed you, there are 3 options;

1. The Arrow - This is the closest pub to the ground, built in the middle of the housing estate next to the stadium. Quite large inside, food's ok but get there early if you want any because it does get busy on matchdays. For the larger games be a bit careful because our idiots tend to end up here as well.

Directions to the Arrow:

From the away terrace go up back up the road from the car park and turn right. At the next junction turn left, then right nearly straight away. Follow this road until you see a Tesco express, the pub is next to it. Also a chinese here which is good

2. The Hungry Horse - Standard Hungry Horse pub, bigger than the Arrow and also has a large beer garden. Probably the most away fan friendly pub near the ground.

Directions:

It is about a 15-20 min walk from the ground, come out to the top road again, turn right. Then turn right follow this hill all the way to the bottom (2nd Roundabout), then turn left and follow this road past Asda and at the bottom of the hill is the pub on the right-hand side. Opposite the Hungry Horse is a Chinese/Fish & Chippy best in Yeovil IMO

3. The Airfield Tavern - A Brewsters style pub, large restaurant area.

Directions:

About a 15 min walk
Same as for Hungry Horse, except when you get to the ASDA roundabout, go straight across, pub is on the next roundabout on your right. There is also a Fish & Chippy on this roundabout (Chips are to crispy for my liking).

Brentford

There is 19 Pubs within 1/2 Mile of the ground and a pub on each corner of the ground

The New Inn very much an away fans pub,Pool table, food, large beer garden

The Princess Royal Home Fans only

The Griffin ale lovers will like it here gets packed with both home and away fans.

The Royal Oak tiny pub mainly home fans.

Avoid the Albany Arms as full of brentford youth and feels like OB live there.

If you staying try the Travel Inn Kew very nice hotel with good bar and restraunt and 5 mins walk from the ground.

If you are taking the mrs go to ealing broadway and there is 2 shopping centres there and you can get the 65 bus to brentford fc from there.

Bring the Family as brentford pride themselves on Family tradition and you very rarely get trouble unless it is against foolham, reading, watford of qpr.

Nottingham also has the oldest pub in the world, 'Ye Old Trip to Jeruselem' Also the 'Children's Salvation' was excellent!
One of the best town's/citys for a pre match drink!

PS would it make more sense to put this guide in each individual clubs bit? You're most likeley to check it before an away match and the current format will get confusing(possibly)

Well, we have got some good and bad ones.

BAD: most people who have come to millmoor should know never to go in the new country (country bourgh before burnt down) and the effingham arms in the town centre.

Good: the RUFC suite is great, it is for home fans only but, if you dont have your shirt on the bounces may let you in. Also the millmoor and the butches are decent.

If you do go into the town centre there is about 20 pubs, so you must like one of them. Also if you come off the motoway and go through kimberworth, there are some great pubs. the effingham is good, kimi park, green dragon and many more.

I seem to remember The Sir Jack in Bramley being an excellent place to spend a few (many) beer drinking hours. A fairly cheap taxi ride across town to the ground, a hotel right next door (if my booze riddled memory serves me right), and a cracking name to boot!
