Jay Tabb wants to Stay at Coventry

JAY TABB wants to sign a new Coventry City contract before the start of the season.

The 24-year-old midfielder - Sky Blues' player of the year in 2007/08 - is due to sit down with chairman Ray Ranson to discuss an extension to his three-year deal which runs out next summer.

"I am very happy that the club want to talk about a new contract," said Tabb, one of a number of players to have been linked with former Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie at QPR. "It would have been nice if it had happened as soon as the season finished because I have only got a year left.

"I got player of the year and I have got a really good relationship with the chairman and the manager and love the training here, so I want to get a new contract sorted before the first game of the season against Norwich.

"I have spoken to the chairman and told him that I am really happy here and I want to get my future sorted out."

Signed from Brentford by Micky Adams, Tabb quickly established himself in the Championship and has become a firm fans favourite at the Ricoh Arena.

But he admitted: "The only thing I miss is London.

"I miss my friends and family - it gets a bit lonely when you live on your own up here, but apart from that I am really happy and want to get a new contract signed as soon as possible.

"I just want to get a contract signed before the start of the season."
