Business Slow at Coventry

Coventry City cool on transfer talk

COVENTRY CITY chief Ray Ranson insists the Sky Blues will not be putting all their eggs in one basket as the club continue to work on drafting in new players.

It may have gone quiet in terms of business being done but Ranson says there is plenty of work going on behind the scenes as he and manager Chris Coleman pursue their targets.

Freddy Eastwood, Kasper Schmeichel and Guillaume Beuzelin remain in their sights.

But Ranson said: "We are considering two or three options for every position the manager wants to strengthen. We certainly don't want to pin all our hopes on one player."

The situation with Eastwood, who is on the transfer list at Wolves, remains "on-going", as does the bid to sign Schmeichel from Manchester City and Beuzelin from Hibernian with the club hoping to tie up at least one of the deals next week.

Eastwood is currently on international duty with Wales and started Wednesday night's 1-0 victory over Iceland and is due to face Holland on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old goalkeeper Schmeichel is back in the country following his club's tour in Thailand but is one of two or three options the club are looking at.
