Coventry to release eight players

Coventry City have confirmed that they will release eight out-of-contract players at the end of the season.
Arjan de Zeeuw, Michael Hughes, Colin Hawkins, Stuart Giddings, Ellery Cairo, Wayne Andrew, Lee Hildreth and Liam David will leave the Championship club.

David McNamee, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, could follow at the end of the season.

But Marcus Hall, Stephen Hughes, Danny Ireland and Andy Marshall will all be offered new deals at Coventry

Looks like the axe is about to fall on a lack lustre side......

Me niether in truth, we need a clear out if we are to be able to by in the summer and I think cutting the wage bill will be a big part of this, to many players who've not even made the bench this season soaking up cash..

All of them played for the reserves this afternoon in a 5 - 0 win against Port Vale, with plenty of scouts in attendance, I would expect a few to leave on loan before thursday

I think it's a bit foolish to tell players they have no future at the club when you're in the middle of a relegation dogfight. Surely Coleman would have been better waiting till the end of the season, at least then it wouldn't have affected team morale.

I know what you mean Beefy but I think the drive is to cut the wage bill, by getting players loaned out. City need to get loaned players in but that means and increase in salaries on the bottom line, so if we can off load a few now and balance the books.

I think this is just like an advert that we have players available for loan...
