Chris Coleman and Eric Black cool on Coventry City job

CHRIS COLEMAN and Eric Black have both distanced themselves from the Sky Blues hot-seat.

Former Fulham boss Coleman, who left Real Sociedad last month following a row with president Inaki Badiola, said last night: I'm not interested at the minute.

"I've been linked with a few clubs but I won't rush back in.

"There is fire in my belly to be on the touch-line but I haven't asked anybody to consider me to be the manager of their club.

Black, meanwhile, wants to remain as Steve Bruce's No.2 at Wigan Athletic.

One day I might want to return to management," he said, "but there's a big challenge here first.

"I was aware of Coventry's interest but I'm more than happy with the job I'm doing with Steve."

Black was previously in charge of Coventry for five months at the end of the 2003-04 season but was axed when then-chairman Mike McGinnity recruited Peter Reid.

"I think I was unlucky to lose my job at Coventry," he said yesterday.

"We were doing all right, averaging two points a game, but people have their choices and make decisions.

"It turned out to be a good thing because I went to Birmingham with Steve, and now I'm at Wigan."

Coleman is favourite again and some of this mornings papers are saying that he has already been offered the job and an announcement is expected before Tuesdays game at Sheffield Wednesday

They need to do something very quick as they are in freefall.

At the Ricoh yesterday they were appalling and showed a complete lack of communication. They were unable to put 2 passes together and although suffered from some diabolical refereeing decisions 5 - 0 was about fair on paper. If West Brom had got out of 2nd gear it could have been mamy many more

Citys next 2 games against fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester on Tuesday and Saturday are crucial for the Sky Blues in their quest to stay in the championship

Over 28,000 went to the Ricoh yesterday over 10000 more than usual - a shame many of these will not be back for a long time

On a positive note was good to meet Briggcov briefly at half time

Sorry but I think that sacking Dowie was a mistake. He's had virtually no money to spend until the Ranson take over and just because he hasn't brought instant success he's shown the door. I think he'd have turned it round if given time.

Having seen him on SS this evening he sounded fairly bitter about the whole issue and must say I agree with him - pretty obvious that Ranson has his own agenda
