Millers Staying At Millmoor!!!

After weeks of uncertainty, todays Rotherham Advertiser reports the a deal has been struck between the Booths and prospective new owner Tony Stewart to stay at Millmoor.

Many thought it was 100 years and out for Rotherham United at Millmoor, but barring any last minute hiccups, a deal to stay at Millmoor for at least another 4 years until the proposed community stadium is built.

Should the community stadium be delayed (and lets be honest, its RMBC we're talking here!) there is an option to stay a further 6 years at Millmoor in the new deal.

Tony Stewart told todays 'Tiser; "We have has three exhaustive weeks of discussions with the Booths. We are now comfortable with the conditions in place and are just waiting for the final details."

"We hope to be in a position to sign the new lease next Tuesday or Wednesday. I am not willing to go into further detail at this stage." he added.

If talks had failed, the club had been laid plans to move to Don Valley Stadium, however this is now not needed and Stewart had hoped to conclude the deal on Millmoor earlier this week.

"I wanted to close the deal on Tuesday but that was'nt possible. I wouldn't agree to any deal until it was totally right for Rotherham United." he said.

It is unknown how much the new rent will be, but the 'Tiser reports that the club have tried to lower the rent on Millmoor from the £16k per month plus repairs.

The Booth family have also agreed to make some improvements around the ground; "The work won't be major, but we hope to smarten the ground up as we go forward in the next four years." Stewart added.

So does that mean the old new stand will get finished to a degree where it can be fully seated??

I'd have thought Rotherham would have been better getting a new stadium as soon as possible, then the Booth family can't hold the club to ransom any more.
