Valid points!! I think he is falling into trap of believing his own hype. Yes he has been a fantastic player, yes he is probably the best passer of the ball England have had for many a year, yes I would have paid money just to go watch him play but times change and there are new potential David Beckhams about. The only way to find out how good they realy are is to throw them in at deep end and put them on the stage to show what they can do. If they make an arse of it then they only have themselves to blame it wont be for the lack of opportunity.

I honestly think McClaren has made a huge mistake dropping Beckham from the International side. IMHO Beckham has gotten complacent, being stuck on the Bench whilst watching some new upstart take his place may get his game back.

I agree that it is certainly time for him to step aside and let other players take over, i personally don't think we want another david beckham, although he was a world class player for england we now need something different. A player that can do more than just hit a great pass or hit a fantastic shot. I think we need a more complete player as Stavie G is the game has evolved and at times i feel where england gained from his ability to land a ball on a six pence they really lost when we were unable to penetrate down the wing. Lennon will offer something very different and i for one am excited by this! It doesn't matter how well you can pass a ball if your losing in a world cup knockout game you need players to run at defenders and make something happen. A failing we have had over the years.
