The big England debate

Now that Mc (Turnip) Claren has gone should there also be a shake up at the FA. It was Brian Barwick that appointed McClaren so surely the buck stops with him. The FA have promised a "Route & Branch" look at the whole England Senior Set up but shouldn't the Governing Body also be investigated, if necessary by an independant body ?. I believe that the chance is now here to have a good sort out so why not strike while the iron is hot ?

I really do wish this big investigation would actually happen, but it won't. This is always something that's said when England fail to qualify for tournaments, the problem is that it's always forgotten in about a month or so. I really think this will happen again, but I really hope I am wrong this time

Well it was pretty obvious at the press conference this morning that the FA is clearly rattled. I've never seen so many of the top boys appear together like that and they didn't seem to be hiding from anyone this time. And they collectively accepted the blame which was a refreshing change. If they're serious about it then hopefully we'll see some change for the good. However they should also take a good look at themselves this time and see if anything needs changing there also ...

Too many chiefs and not enough indians at FA. Sachin Tendulkar would at lest be an Indian amongst the chiefs and would probably know more than the current crop of over paid clowns!

It would help if any of them knew something about football in the first place quite honestly. But they don't ever seem to grasp the situation and take decisive action when it's required. Hence the situation on Wednesday evening as yet another misfit bit the dust.

A bunch of old men on huge salaries doing nothing...Brian Barwick should have been sacked at the same time as McClaren....Barwick will now spead a nice long week in a Posh hotel in South Africa eating and drinking for free whilst the England get drawn into a group that they'l have no chance of winning...Thank you Mr.Barwick

Yes I'd go along with that. Very interesting that most of the top boys were present at the press conference and seemed to be trying to deflect the criticism that inevitably would be coming Barwick's way. Another failure in qualifying for South Africa 2010 will lead to a meltdown I believe as the whole FA setup will come in for huge scrutiny from all quarters. An interesting couple of years ahead.
