That is global warming mild damp winters and a summer of rain, both incourage plant growth which would if left unchecked increase the atmospheric carbon uptake and over a million years or so bring things back into balance. But! as we (humans) cut more forest every day burn more fossil fuels this carbon sink cannot absorb enough to bring things into balance. I know the oceans are the largest carbon sink but they're already at full level.

More rain to come......

Looking at the pictures of Tewkesbury & Gloucester again now I don't think we can say that this is just a one off. I think this is likely to become a more regular occurrence from now on. I really feel for those people, many of whom are only just getting over the floods from last year, now living on tenderhooks once again ...

The reason for all of these floods is not becuase of globel warming, its becuase the government havent paid any money to clean all of the drains and improve them. they have just been left for years.

there is loads of crap in them, so when ita raining, the rivers cant take as much water becuase of the other stuff in them. thats what has caused all of these floods.

GET A GRIP!

global warming is a phenomenon going back as far as 1860. it's not because some water is pouring down in quick succession that global warming has reached a totally new level.
besides, you can swim so what's the problem?

Try telling that to the people who've been flooded out and are now in danger of going through all that again. Not pleasant. This part of the country is on high alert at the moment because the ground is already saturated. Nowhere for all the rain to go ...
