Socceroos set to part company
Blackburn are hopeful of keeping Lucas Neill at Ewood but look increasingly likely to lose his Australian team-mate Brett Emerton to Everton.
Neill enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign despite conceding the last-minute penalty which saw the Socceroos eliminated at the last-16 stage by Italy.
Talk of interest from Barcelona and AC Milan surprised many but the 28-year-old's energy and enthusiasm marked him out during the tournament.
However, Rovers are desperate to hang onto Neill and are now believed to have offered him a new four-year contract.
Meanwhile, Everton are said to be closing in on a £1.5million deal for Emerton, who has only one year remaining on his current deal.
The 27-year-old has told Rovers he sees his future elsewhere and David Moyes is a known admirer.
