Roma to complete Riise deal this week
Out-of-favour Liverpool left back has been told that he can leave Liverpool by Rafael Benitez and he has been reported as in the middles of negotiations with Roma.
The Italian giants have put in a bid for €4million, which is €1million less than Benitez originally demanded, but it seems that the Liverpool boss is now keen to complete as many deals as possible this week to pay for Gareth Barry's arrival.
The 27 year-old has already stated publicly that he wants to join Roma, and the promise of first team football next season should ensure there is no problem with personal terms.
The Norwegian player international was short of playing time last season, but after his own-goal against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final seemed to seal his fate.
The arrival of Andrea Dossena last week made his departure a certainty and Riise had responded to comments from Roma coach Spalletti that indicated he wanted Riise at the Stadio Olompico:
"That was nice what was said by the coach (Spalletti), but this is only something I have heard from media reports," said Riise.
"I have only one year of my contract left, so the price is lower than a year ago - 50 million Norwegain Kroner seems a little high for me.
"I need to play and need to be in a team where I can become better, because I know I can become better.
"When you change club, you get a kick-start and a set of new challenges."
It looks like he is going to get his wish this week.
