Liverpool retained the League Championship and the League Cup.
Manchester United became the second club to reach both domestic cup finals.

Arsenal equalled the record of Sunderland in 1958 by completing 57 consecutive seasons in the Top Division. I bet Sunderland wish they were still as consistant as they were a few years ago!!

Swansea City qualified for Europe by winning the Welsh Cup, and were also relegated.

A change to the financial rules occurs: Top Division clubs are allowed to keep all their gate receipts in league matches instead of sharing them with their opponents. This will lead to a widening of the gap between rich and poor clubs.
