End of an Era

So the old girl, Belle Vue, retires from football this weekend, to join the list of proper grounds being replaced by identikit grounds.

Anyone any good memories of Belle Vue?

I've never seen Yeovil lose at Belle Vue, definatly my favourite ground and my favourite games have been;

Conference - March 2000 - Donny 0 Yeovil 3

I drove to this one with a good friend who writes for the local paper. I'd only been driving a week, got pulled for doing an average of 99.6mph(phew!) on the way, saw one of the best goals I've seen - A young lad called James Bent picked the ball up in our box, took it past numerous Donny players, got to about 30 yards out and hit it, top corner

FA Trophy Feb 2002 - Doncaster 4 Yeovil 5.

Doncaster were 4-1 up with about 15 mins left, 4 goals later (including last minute winner from our captain (and still captain) Terry Skiverton gave us a 5-4 win.

Conference April 2003 - Doncaster 0 Yeovil 4

Never ever forget this one, little Yeovil Town, the famous Giant killers had finally gained promotion after 108 years, and absolutly tore Donny apart.
This game also produced one of the funniest songs I've heard at football - "You've got Donkeys on the pitch, you've got Donkeys on the pitch" etc and then above the terrace to the left appeared a group of police horses and so began "You've got horses on the roof" etc etc

Had to be there really, but the Donny fans under the roof looked very confused
