Doncaster Rovers have launched an audacious bid to land Kevin Keegan as their new manager.
The former England and Newcastle chief has been out of football since quitting Manchester City in March 2005.
However, Rovers chairman John Ryan is now hoping to lure him back into the game.
Doncaster parted company with manager Dave Penney on Wednesday, but Ryan has wasted little time in highlighting his prime-target.
Keegan is Doncaster-born and supported Rovers as a child and Ryan hopes the lure of his hometown club will prove too much to resist.
"Kevin Keegan is the man I want as manager," he said. "It's the sort of challenge that would appeal to him."
what a scalp this would be!....come on kev, you know it makes sense
