Coventry 0 v 1 Plymouth

It is now the early hours of Monday morning and I have calmed down enough to write an objective report on this game.

Simply awful is the only way to describe the performance of the Coventry team; whilst individuals played well there is simply no team co-ordination. I don't want to take any credit away from Plymouth who came to the Richo with a plan and stuck to it and earned themselves a good three points.

Coventry started brightly enough with a couple of early chances one of which from Stern John brought an excellent save from the Plymouth keeper, so after sixteen minutes that was it for Coventry nothing really springs to mind that caused me to even think of getting out of my seat. In the second half Coventry had one more chance in which a free kick from the right of the penalty box skidded across the goal mouth and was pushed out by the keeper; other than that there was nothing.

In the past three home games we have seen the visitors arrive and play four or five men in midfield and in truth we have struggled, Plymouth must have watched this closely as they dominated the midfield and held control for most of the game.

The Coventry defence worked hard both full backs did and excellent job and for me Hall was Coventry's man of the match. Every time the defence cleared the ball it came straight back, Coventry's midfield was clearly not there. Long balls out of defence found Kyile and to his credit he won nearly every ball and headed the ball down to no one other than a Plymouth defender. Nothing absoluty nothing came out of midfield, none of our forwards seem to work together and we had three on the pitch at the end. The forwards all seemed to take a solo route to goal if they got the ball anywhere near the penalty area, it was their only choice as there was no support for anyone.

The last twenty minutes where a complete farce following from one cock-up to the next as the whole team imploded in a fit of total imcompetance. Just before Plymouth scored, Plymouth had five albeit wayward shots on goal without Coventry getting the ball out of their half.

It is clearly evident that the players have ability but it seems there is a serious lack of understanding between the players with each of them working to a different plan. Unless Micky Adams can get the midfield to function and control the game we are going to struggle more and more as other teams get the message of our obvious weakness. Nothing is moving up front it is all quite static really no invention and not a lot idea either come to that.

Well done Plymouth you deserved your win you controlled the game and the field for seventy five of the ninety minutes.

You've got a good record at home briggcov, and you've made The Ricoh a bit of a fortress. Teams coming know they aren't likely to win, therefore they'll come more defensive with a draw in mind, and if they are lucky with a counter attack they might win. It's gonna be the same all season for you at Coventry, and it's up to Adams to find a way round it. I think you'll end up a lot higher than last year though mate, so good luck to you. I hope you finish a place behind Leeds, having said that, if you do you might go down

Thanks for your support Beefy but I am sure you know how I feel and how angry one feels when your team performs so badly. The thing is for me to go and watch a game its a three hundred mile round trip, food, tickets and all the rest and that's for a home game.....Elland Road is of course only seventy odd miles from Brigg so New years day could see me at Elland Road.

There is really only one team at the moment in this League with any form and that is of course Cardiff, nearly every other team cannot put a sequence of results together, whether that is poor teams or that differance between teams is so marginal is open for disscusion.

You should follow Millwall, never mind putting 2 wins together, we can't put 2 passes together.

That was Coventry's problem on Saturday, it was like Plymouth had nineteen players on the pitch.
