Well I think I can safely say that Coventry paid the price for the early sacking of Iain Dowie with a performance that was at best very poor and greatly hindered by the sending off of Doyle four minutes into the second half.
The sending off which has to be said completely changed the game and from what I could see sitting in line with the event was even some what doubtful as a foul. The referee got this one completely wrong and there should be good evidence to get the ban lifted.
That aside the remaining 41 minutes of play was a total shambles, with Coventry having their first shot on target in the 81st minute. There was no leadership, totally disorganised, no structure. Michael Mifsud had a couple of runs but was effectively played out of the game. Leon best was for the second game in a week completely ineffective, poor control and slow in pace. Little wonder he wanted to go down a division, because at that level I think he could be dangerous, but against any reasonable defence he is as good as useless. The Coventry forward line were absent on Saturday.
Also absent was Coventry's midfield which was made redundant by the long ball up from defence which not surprisingly came straight back to the Coventry goal along with some very effective West Brom forwards.
I my mind the fact that nearly all of Coventry's resent signing are preparing us for the next campaign in League 1, as I don't think the team we have are in anyway good enough to survive in the championship. If in the games against Shffield Wednesday, Leicester and Burnley in the coming week we don't get any favourable results I cannot see really how Coventry can aviod the drop. Preston are gaining points, a good win at the weekend for Leicester leaves Coventry only three points above the relegation zone.
I hope Mr. Ranson is taking a good hard look at himself this week and wondering whether he has seriously screwed up in sacking Iain Dowie, With the transfer window now closed and nearly all loans arranged there is little any new manager can do to change the heap of crap that is the first team squad at Coventry...I also wonder if the SISU group who Mr.Ranson talked into buying Coventry are having serious second thoughts about what they've bought into and also into Mr.Ranson's judgement.
On the upside Coventry lost another 10,000 fans to the big four of the premiership as the Coventry support vapourised with thirty minutes of the game to go the fans were streaming for the exits.
COVENTRY BEE really nice to meet you perhaps we can get together next season when Coventry are playing Brentford at the Richo..
