Fortress Richo
Well folks another three points secured for the SkyBlues at the Richo Arena this weekend, that's 10 points from 12 at home so far this season.
This weeks hapless visitors where Leeds Utd a team in the news a lot lately all for the wrong reasons. To be fair this game was in no way a classic, with both team dominating a one half each.
Coventry where off to the better start I felt dominating midfield and pushing forward, Kevin Kyile giving the Leeds centre backs plenty of work. New boy Tabb was working and trying various approaches to break down the Leeds defence. The game was intermitant, lots of stoppages for minor fouls, taps and kicks, this really stopped the game form developing. It was Tabb's run at a backing off Leeds defence that allowed him the room to run into the box, then lay the ball off to his left to Stern John who calmly sidefooted the past the keeper and player on the line.
After the goal Leeds did start to push out more but never really produced anything. The second half saw Leeds dominate midfield and Coventry reduced to attacking on the break one chance went to Doyle I think and he should of scored really. However Leeds pressed Coventry back for most of the half, a lot of endevour but little idea I think sums it up. Leeds really need a striker with confidence up front. Marshall in the Coventry tipped over one shot over that was already to high but that was all the treat Leeds produced for their work,
As I said before not a classic but gritty hard earned three points for the SkyBlues. Coventry I feel are in the early stages of making a good team, new players settling in getting used to each other, once the engine tuning is finshed and all cylinders are firing at the right time we'll be a force to be feared.
If we can hold our home advantage and improve our away form Coventry have a real chance to grab a play off place this season, I think it's to early for the SkyBlues to consider the Premiership really but if it comes I'll be welcoming it.
