Former Premier League and Spanish League manager Chris Coleman has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal to become the new manager of Coventry City, which sees him commit to the Sky Blues until the summer of 2011.
The well-respected central defender, 37, started his playing career with Swansea City as a 17-year-old, before moving to Crystal Palace in 1991. He spent four years at Selhurst Park before a £2.8-million move to Blackburn Rovers in 1995. Two years later, he opted to return to London and joined Fulham, where he retired from playing in 2001 through injury. It was at Craven Cottage where he first made his mark as a coach, joining Jean Tigana's backroom staff in 2002. In April 2003, 'Cookie' was named Caretaker Manager and steered the Club away from relegation before being announced as Tigana's permanent replacement a month later. After four years as manager, he left Fulham in April 2007. In June last year, Coleman was named as the new manager of Real Sociedad, where he remained until a month ago. Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson, delighted at delivering such a high quality manager for the Club, comments: "Chris is a progressive young manager with excellent coaching credentials and has a real desire to deliver success for our club. "I have been flattered by the number of top-class coaches and managers who have shown an interest in managing Coventry City, but Chris was always our number one target. "I am looking forward to working with him we share the same passion for football and how a club should be managed, I have no doubt that he will help to take this great club forward." The former Welsh international will attend an official press conference at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon. ![]() LINK |

Well maybe he's brought us little luck, in that the game tonight has be Abandonedd allow city to appeal Doyle's sending off on Saturday against West Brom. Support form Tony Mowbury will help as he also thought the red card was harsh.
We'll also have to wait now until the transfer market reopens in the summer to see whether there really is any money to buy the players that could put Coventry back in the Premiership......
