Colchester United have announced that their manager Geraint Williams has parted company with the club.

The U's are currently second from bottom of League One, following their 3-0 home defeat by MK Dons on Saturday.

Chairman Robbie Cowling paid tribute to Williams: "I am grateful to him for leaving the club in a much better state than when he joined it."

Colchester have named assistant boss Kit Symons as caretaker manager following Williams' departure.

why has he gone? he has done a very good job there, he got them a top 10 finish in his 1st season in the championship, then did take them down, but it does get hard when you dont spend money.

this is the problem, why dont they give them time?

Colchester wait years for someone to push the club forward, Williams comes along and does exactly that, takes them into the Championship on a limited budget and they do well. One bad season later and Williams gets his marching orders, so who are the board looking for now?.
