The FA have confirmed that an approach has been made by Chester City FC to change their name to Chester Halton FC. Halton is an area about 20 miles from Chester and is around the Widnes/Runcorn area. Stephen Vaughan, the chairman, is in dispute with Chester City Council over the rent and as he has a financial interest in Halton RLFC, the worry is that he will move Chester from the Deva stadium to play at Halton.

Yet another franchise would appear to be emerging

Its the sign of the times though COYG - Money will always win in the end and slip a few coucillors/FA nonces back handers and you can do what you like.

Don't know owt about this situation, not sure how amny similarities there are between this and MK. Maybe he has a point, maybe Chester City Council are being very unhelpful? Stockport MBC certainly have in the past! Probably only talk to get thet rent reduced??
If it is more than talk then the thing for me is the wishes of the supporters. If the majority of CCFC supporters are agsinst it, then I'm against it!

Having said that above, I do not like the sounds of it !
Worst thin for me with the MK thing is that the FA have set a precedent! It's always hardest to do something unpopular the 1st time! This time people will be saying "Oh, it's just like what happened to Wimbledon, but probably not as bad, 'cause they're not moving as far or changing their name..."
The lies and false accounting that alowed the MK thing were outrageous! This won't be as bad, so therefore it will be acceptable to many including the TW4TS at the FA!
