Transfer embargo upon Chester!!!

The Football League has placed a transfer embargo upon Chester City after a recommendation from the PFA.

A statement from the PFA today read:

Advice to PFA members regarding Chester City FC

In response to recent reports with regard to Chester City's attempts to sign players for the 2008-09 season, the PFA wishes to clarify the situation to ensure that all members are fully aware of the issues that the club is currently facing.

The PFA has provided financial assistance to the club for some time to assist in the payment of players' wages.

The majority of the players currently at the club have not received any payment for two months, or more.

The PFA have, therefore, advised the Football League of the monies outstanding to the players, and the Football League has applied Regulation 46.1 and placed an embargo upon the transfer of any registration by the club until such times as the payments due to the current playing staff are made.

It was felt it was incumbent on the PFA to advise its members of the potential difficulties that this club is facing at the present time.

How many more clubs will hit money problems, when will the FA step in and help by not giving all the money to the prem teams.

The sad thing is that it's the average Joe that's not being paid at Chester, their players are probably on £700 a week. They can't afford to miss 2 months wages, maybe there should be a fund out of all the SKY money that makes sure players get paid in the lower leagues.

It's another example of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Hopefully there'll be new backers for Chester. But with the economy going the way it is currently, you have to fear for any clubs that are in this situation ...

this is the most annoying thing, people like ronaldo coamplin and want 150k a week instead of 130k, but people on 700 quid cant afford to miss any as they have to pay for there families.

the bd thing is, in a few years, i can see us losing a league and going down to 3 main leagues, to many teams are getting into money problems and none of the FA are doing anything to help.
